Your role

To interview interesting professionals in a vast variety of industries, producing interviews that will be posted across all social channels. You will also play a pivotal role in product development and marketing, giving ideas and feedback to shape the platform.

THE PROBLEM YOU'LL SOLVE

We need 150 interviews posted on the new site by the end of the year, and that can't happen without you. The 8-10 interviews you'll source and record per week will have a quick compounding effect.

What You'll receive

In addition to this being a paid position, you will receive startup experience and mentorship from a multi-time founder. This is the perfect job for budding innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs. This contributor program will majorly build your professional presence, social circle, and personal brand, with highly produced videos that get your name out in a way that is likely to attract future job opportunities at a much greater velocity than your peers.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create organic social media content for our channels 2x per week (our content strategist will help you with scripts and ideas).
  • Be achievement-driven, delivering your quota of 5 interviews on time every week.
  • Have a confident and engaging presence on camera, building rapport with both the professional you're interviewing and the viewers.
  • Give each guest an incredible experience with our brand, sending them a thank-you note and instructions on how to repost their interview once it's ready.
  • Be others-focused. This job is not about what you can gain. It's about what you can contribute as you help bring a mission to life.
  • Provide feedback and ideas to improve Job Dictionary.
  • Using the scripts and steps I give you, reach out to experienced professionals in interesting jobs on LinkedIn and other platforms, as well as your personal network.
  • Schedule and lead 30-60 min interviews with them. You will receive our standard list of questions, but creativity and curiosity are encouraged.
  • Share the short-form videos our editor creates to your personal social media accounts (LinkedIn + Instagram at a minimum).

how to apply

Dear student,

To apply to our contributor program, email kelsey@jobdictionary.com by Friday, Sept 6th to be considered for the Fall 2024 semster. In your email, please include:

1. Your resume.

2. A quick Loom video introducing yourself and sharing what would specifically make you great at sourcing, interviewing, and posting guest interviews that will make up the knowledge base of the site (max 90 seconds). Hint for success: sharing that you are excited to learn and be a part of a startup is to describe a benefit to yourself. I’m looking for you to describe the benefits you’re prepared to contribute to me, the team, and our users. The most engaging, curious, and others-focused students will win.

3. A short written summary of your pitch for why you are perfect for the contributor program (max 5 sentences). It doesn't have to be the same as what you mentioned in the video. You are welcome to include new details as you see fit. Creative and direct to the point is best.

4. Links to each of your social media accounts, along with a mention of your follower count on each. Note: you do not have to have a massive following, but it is a consideration.

Thank you so much for your application! I am cheering you on and grateful for your eagerness to be a part of shaping the company in its earliest days.

Sincerely,

Kelsey
